Dodon: Opposition has chance to form future cabinet
Former Moldovan President and Patriotic Bloc leader Igor Dodon said the ruling Party of Action and Solidarity will likely lose its majority in the next parliament, and the opposition has a chance to form a government after the September 28 parliamentary elections. He said that the opposition will prevent fraud attempts abroad by working closely with an organized network of observers. The bloc held about 4,000 meetings with voters and focused on direct dialogue with the population. The Moldovan opposition claims that the opening of only two polling stations in Russia could affect the distribution of votes because, as they say, hundreds of thousands of Moldovan citizens live in Russia (TASS).
Intended effect: Russian propaganda seeks to show that the current Moldovan government is losing support and will soon lose control. Meanwhile, the opposition appears strong, organized, and capable of winning. The issues of fraud and polling station restrictions in Russia are used to discredit the pro-European government and create the impression of unfair elections. These tactics aim to mobilize the pro-Russian electorate and cast doubt on the legitimacy of the election results within the international community.
RIA Novosti: Now it’s all about war
RIA Novosti published an article suggesting that a series of drone sightings over European countries may be a provocation. Incidents involving drones have been reported in Denmark, Poland, and Romania, resulting in air traffic restrictions. European politicians and media outlets are blaming Russia, calling what is happening a “hybrid war.” The author of the article claims that these incidents may be a “false flag” operation – Ukraine or its Western allies could have repaired downed Russian Geran drones and used them to carry out attacks in order to blame Moscow and draw NATO into direct conflict. The article states that these actions could be a precursor to a large-scale provocation, including terrorist attacks against iconic European sites. Commenting on the situation, the Russian Foreign Ministry said that such scenarios bring the world closer to global war (ria.ru).
Intended effect: In this article, the author argues that Europe and Ukraine are intentionally staging drone attacks to blame Russia and draw NATO into a war. This narrative aims to justify accusations against Moscow, convince the audience of Western treachery and terrorist intentions, and reinforce Russia’s image as a victim of staged events.
